The volume of Russian forest harvesting in 2010 amounted to 56.7 billion rubles (2.07 billion U.S. dollars)
According to market research, "Review of forest industry and timber market in Russia in 2005-2010, and forecast for 2011-2012." surveyed by the consulting company "AMIKO", the amount of logging in Russia in 2010 according to official figures amounted to about 56.7 billion rubles (2.07 billion U.S. dollars) in value terms.

British Columbia’s lumber sales to China are booming beyond the most optimistic expectations, eclipsing those to the United States for the first time.
In May, a record month, B.C.’s producers sold $120-million of softwood lumber to mainland China, triple the level of a year earlier and, more significantly, edging out the $119-million in sales to the United States.

U.S. housing construction rose in June to its highest level since January, but much of that growth was in the volatile multifamily sector and reflects a rebound from bad weather earlier in the spring.
Housing starts rose 14.6% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 629,000, according to the Commerce Department. Yet that number remained well below the one million units considered to be a healthy level, and economists hesitated to call a bottom in the home-construction market.
